Application Instructions

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Programs

Applicants are encouraged to thoroughly review all admission criteria and application steps prior to submission. Please read each section below carefully to ensure a complete and accurate application.

  • NursingCAS Application

    is the only application required for admission to the UT San Antonio School of Nursing. Applicants must pay two application fees to submit their application:

    • School of Nursing application fee
    • NursingCAS application fee

     

    The School of Nursing application fee is $45 (non-refundable), and the link to pay the fee is accessed through the NursingCAS application under the Questions tab in the Program Materials section.

    The NursingCAS application fee is set by NursingCAS and will be paid when you submit your application.

    NursingCAS also provides the following resources:

  • Official Transcripts

    Official transcripts must be sent to NursingCAS from every college or university you have attended. NursingCAS must receive all official transcripts no later than 10:59 p.m. Central Standard Time on the day of the deadline. 

  • TEAS Exam

    Applicants to the traditional BSN track are required to take the current version 7 of the ATI TEAS exam. 

    • In-Person or Remote Online method of the ATI TEAS exam is accepted
    • No limit to the number of times an applicant can take the ATI TEAS exam
    • We will consider the highest score of the current version of the ATI TEAS exam

     

    Applicants must request that ATI sends the official TEAS score report to U of TX San Antonio School of Nursing BSN. The Office of Admissions must receive the official TEAS exam score report no later than 10:59 p.m. Central Standard Time on the day of the deadline. 

     

    The TEAS exam is not required and will not be considered for applicants to the accelerated BSN track.

  • Interview and Writing Sample

    Applicants are required to complete an online interview and writing sample through Kira Talent (accessed under the Kira Talent tab in the Program Materials section of the application).

    The interview consists of:

    • Four (4) video response questions
    • One (1) writing sample (maximum of 300 words)

     

    While specific questions are not shared in advance, applicants should be prepared to address topics aligned with the following core values:

    • Commitment to Service
    • Intellectual Curiosity
    • Integrity
    • Collaborative Disposition

    Additionally, applicants are strongly encouraged to review our mission, vision, and values.

  • AP, CLEP, IB Exams

    If an applicant has earned academic credit through any of the following, UT San Antonio must receive the official score report no later than 10:59 p.m. Central Standard Time on the day of the deadline.

    • College Level Examination Program (CLEP) 
    • Advanced Placement (AP) 
    • International Baccalaureate (IB) 
    • DANTES  

     

    UT San Antonio's College Board school code (for CLEP and AP exams) is 6908.

     

  • Foreign Coursework

    Applicants who have attended a foreign college are required to submit an official course-by-course foreign evaluation from an approved . This evaluation must be mailed directly from the credentialing agency to:

    If an applicant has only attended colleges outside of the United States, they will be required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to be considered for admission to the School of Nursing.

    Scores must be less than two years old and received by the Office of Admissions by the application deadline. Please send official score reports to:
