PA Studies professor receives Spectrum Award
Department of Physician Assistant Studies , received the 2026 School of Health Professions Spectrum Award in May.
The annual award recognizes faculty for all-around excellence and exceptional contributions in teaching, research and service.
Burgin serves as director of clinical education for the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program, has served on numerous committees at the department, school and institutional level, and in 2024 was elected a house delegate for both the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Associates. Her research interests include rural and underserved healthcare delivery and clinical placements, as well as preventing medical issues through a healthy diet.
鈥淭o get the Spectrum Award was just incredible to me,鈥 Burgin said. 鈥淚 took it home that day and showed it around to my family. I am pleasantly surprised.鈥
Burgin鈥檚 efforts more than qualify her for the recognition, said Department of Physician Assistant Studies Chair Paul B. Allen, Sr., DSc, MPAS, PA-C, FAAPA.
